Tramane Munks,Sr. is a native Houstonian, and the son of the late Mrs. Yolanda Munks Babineaux and Reginald Shaw. Tramane is a graduate of Jack Yates Senior High School, class of 1994. From a teenager to an adult, he has been blessed to share his gifts with such great artists as the late Rev. Milton Brunson, Henry "Hanq" Neal, Charles Tyrone, Mona Moore, Cynthia Miller, V. Michael McKay, Daryl Coley, Javin Campbell, Soul Fruit, Kathy Taylor, Dr. Margaret Douroux, and many more. Tramane is a former member of THE HOUSTON EBONY OPERA GUILD, in which he has sung baritone and tenor.
He has taught in the Houston Independent School District as a Choir and Band Director. While teaching in the local school district, he developed a concern for our students. Over the years, he has seen schools who have completely removed the fine arts from their curriculum. This brought a major concern to him.
Tramane Munks, Sr. is also an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). Tramane has traveled inside and outside of the state of Texas conducting workshops and music ministry building seminars. He continues to mentor and help guide our future musicians and artists in the right direction. In these sessions, he has shared his knowledge and expertise to church music ministries whose music departments are suffering. He has co-produced many joint-venture projects, also. He released his own debut CD in 2006 entitled “FINAL CHAPTER”.
In 2005, he was given a vision to open a music studio to teach people young and old how to sing or play an instrument. He started teaching in several area churches to accommodate his students. Then, in 2012, he took it a step further and began teaching online using video conferencing software. The name of the studio is “Tramane Munks Fine Arts Studio”. The website address is www.Tramane.net Tramane married his best friend and soul mate, Crystal Munks in December 2012, and share 5 God-given children together.
He currently serves as Music Ministry Assistant at The Fort Bend Church in Sugar Land, Texas since 2010. He joined The Fort Bend Church as a member in June of 2012, under the leadership of Rev. Byron C. Stevenson. Tramane Munks,Sr. also serves as the Music Director for a local band called, “ The Table Salt Band” since 2005 to present. Tramane Munks, Sr. is thankful to God for allowing him to be a positive example for the community and abroad.
